Aparājitapṛcchā
Dialogues on craft, proportion and ornament
Эта страница ещё не переведена на русский язык. Показан английский текст.
Built as questions put by Aparājita to Viśvakarma — a dialogue form that records what apprentices actually needed to ask.
The text is western Indian and strongest on ornament, mouldings and the articulation of the temple wall, with a level of detail on profile and carving that the systematic treatises pass over quickly.
Because it answers questions rather than laying out a syllabus, it is the best source for the craft reasoning behind decisions the other texts simply state.
