What you will learn

  • Explain why the classical texts examine land before building
  • Judge a plot by its shape, slope and surroundings
  • Read soil by colour, smell and texture and run a jar test
  • Carry out the pit, water and seed tests and record the results
  • Understand Kakini Vichar with namakshar and gramakshar as cultural mathematics
  • Write a Land Report that combines tradition with modern soil investigation

Listen to the land before you build. The classical Vastu texts begin with Bhumi Pariksha — examining the site by its shape, slope, colour, smell and touch, and by the famous pit, water and seed tests. In this course you do every test yourself, record what you find and learn what modern soil science says about it.

Children follow the Bal Path (बाल पथ): Vishwakarma’s story, one rule and one hands-on test each session. Adults follow the Gahan Path (गहन पथ): the source texts, the reason behind each test and how to read the results. The course also introduces Kakini Vichar with namakshar and gramakshar as cultural mathematics, and ends with your own Land Report.

Educational only: cultural and historical learning, not engineering, geotechnical, legal or financial advice. Every building needs a professional soil investigation and local approvals. Field tests involve digging — children work with an adult and never taste soil. Under-18s join with parental consent. Course design, lessons, retellings, illustrations and sheets © 2026 81Matrix.
